Biography

Avery Perkins (he/they) is a Minnesota born freelance photographer currently based in Chicago. Perkins is currently attending Columbia College Chicago, and will be graduating, in spring of 2025, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography with a concentration in integrated studies.

His work blends his expertise in both street and portrait photography to create imagery that explores the relationship between subject and space.

Outside of his traditional focus, Perkins also has gained experience with event photography during his time working with Hi-Five Sports Zone. In which he photographed a myriad of their events and classes they offer, as well as created their promotional content for multiple platforms. Community is also relevant to his artistic development. He is currently an assistant to the Diane Dammeyer Initiative where he co-manages, and co-curates, a community gallery.

Avery’s ultimate goal is to expand his artistic vision by combing his interests in visual storytelling and community. If interested in connecting, Avery is always excited to collaborate.
