s e e k .
“s e e k . “ was my first photobook. This collection of photographs depicts downtown Chicago in its quietest moments. This series all started with a poem I wrote about my insecurities during my freshman year of college.
I’ve been hiding out in the open,
yet I find you closed off.
I’ve been running away with my shoes untied.
Knot in my stomach as I look into your eyes.
Trip up on my words,
now i’m face to shoe with your feet
and you still don’t see.
I’ve been hiding out in the open,
but am I the one you look for
out in these empty streets?
The need to need to be seen, yet still feeling invisble is what I wanted to capture. Turning these familiar cityscpaes into unfamiliar liminal spaces. Devoid of the many eyes that could perceive you.

a study in blue
“a study in blue” is exactly what its title implies. This project uses the color blue as a backdrop to explore the architecture of Chicago.
However, blue isnt the only element of focus. When photographing the city I noticed a hidden formula. The blend of angular architecture and the organic shape of light coalesce to create a geometric reality in which I began to scuplt. Through using different vantage points and augmenting space I captured a true blue version of Chigcago.

hide &
The series “hide &” is directly inspired by my previous photo book,
“s e e k .” Like the former, this series explores themes of isolation through an urban landscape, and is accompanied by a self-written poem.
If i had to leave
who would i be?
Someone you knew,
or someone who knows me.
My past,
my present,
or someone I’ll soon be?
If we’re playing hide and seek
won’t you come and find me?
The images mirror the poem’s motifs of searching for identity in an obscure, yet playful manner. Although “hide &” is a sequel, the series introduces its first character into a previously empty world.
